Open and edit Figma .fig files in the browser
Design files should open where your team already works — the browser — without a desktop install and without pushing every collaborator into one vendor's account system. That is the workflow Tuvi is built around.
What "opening a .fig file" actually means here
Plenty of tools claim to "import" Figma files and hand you a flattened
picture: text you cannot edit, components fused into groups, layouts that
stretch like images. Opening a file properly means the design stays a
design. When Tuvi opens a .fig, you get:
- Every element as the designer built it: frames, groups, shapes, vector paths, text, component sets and instances with their overrides.
- The file you already have — no export pipeline, no conversion
service in the middle, no plugin to install in the source tool. Both
older and newer
.figvariants upload as is. - Real layout: auto-layout frames keep their rules, so resizing reflows children instead of scaling a bitmap, and edits behave the way the original designer intended.
- Styles and variables intact, including variable modes — colors stay tokens instead of degrading into baked-in values.
The practical consequence: a file someone sent you three years ago opens today as workable material, not an archaeology project.
From viewing to editing together
Opening the file is step one. Tuvi is a collaborative editor, so the imported document immediately supports:
- Real-time multiplayer — teammates edit simultaneously and see each other's changes instantly, with comments anchored in context;
- Link sharing — view links on every plan; edit-capable links with password and expiry controls on Professional and up;
- Version history — 30 days on Starter, unlimited on paid plans, so experiments are reversible;
- Export — PNG, JPEG, SVG or PDF from the editor, including batch export to ZIP.
For developer hand-off, Dev Mode inspects any element's spacing, typography and variables, and generates code in seven formats — from CSS and Tailwind to SwiftUI and Compose — from the same design the team edits.
What to expect on fidelity
Honesty beats surprise: rendering accuracy is high — gradients, shadows, layer and background blur all display faithfully, so what you review in the browser matches what was designed. The limits worth knowing: a few text features (text-on-path, list bullets) are not implemented yet, browsers without modern graphics support fall back to simplified rendering, and files beyond ~100 MB open slowly today. Known differences are tracked publicly, so you can check the list against your files instead of discovering it later.
Getting started
Create a free Starter team (up to 3 editors, 1 project, 10 files — and
personal drafts stay free regardless), drag a .fig file in and you are
editing within seconds. If the file matters, nothing is lost by trying: the
original stays untouched wherever it came from.
Preguntas frecuentes
Do I need to export anything from Figma first?
No export step beyond saving the .fig file itself. Tuvi opens the same file Figma writes — older and newer variants alike — so you upload the file as is.
Will my components and auto-layout survive the import?
Yes. Component instances resolve with their overrides and auto-layout frames keep reflowing when resized, so the document stays editable design, not a frozen picture.
What are the file size limits?
Uploads up to 50 MB on the free Starter plan, 200 MB on Professional and 500 MB on Organization.
Does it work on any computer?
Tuvi runs in the browser on Windows, macOS, Linux and Chromebooks with nothing to install. A small number of browsers without modern graphics support get simplified rendering of text and images until the full fallback ships.
